🌍 Exploring Geospatial Innovation: A Talk with MapTiler 4YFN / MWC 2026
At 4YFN in Barcelona, our team at PinMy had the chance to connect with some of the brightest minds in mapping. One of the most productive conversations was with Tom Armitage from MapTiler.
Supporting Vital Causes Beyond the tech, we were deeply impressed by MapTiler’s social responsibility. Their volunteer support for the DeepState project in Ukraine 🇺🇦 highlights how geospatial data can be a powerful tool for transparency and support in critical times. For us at PinMy, seeing this level of commitment is truly inspiring.
Visualizing the Construction Site Our discussion centered on the growing need for "visual-first" coordination in the AECO sector. While PinMy currently utilizes an open-source mapping stack, we’re always looking at how industry leaders like MapTiler are pushing the boundaries of what's possible on mobile and web.
3. The Future of 3D: Geosplats A highlight was seeing their work on Geosplats. This technology offers a glimpse into how we might eventually move beyond static 2D plans in the field:
- High-Fidelity Environments: Bringing rich 3D context to site inspections.
- Enhanced Field Data: Correlating visual "pins" from the site with detailed geospatial models.
Meeting the MapTiler team was a great reminder that the best solutions come from a shared passion for making complex data intuitive. We look forward to staying in touch and seeing how their new libraries evolve!
