App for installers: CCTV, access control and smart home

The app for installers: CCTV, access control and smart home

If you install cameras, access control or smart home systems, you know the installation plan is half the job. Where each camera goes, what it covers, which model it is, which rack the cabling ends up in. And almost nobody has a tool built for that: it’s hand-marked Google Maps screenshots, a scribbled plan, or loose photos nobody understands later.

Generic construction management apps don’t think about you. They talk about brickwork and structure, not about marking where each sensor goes. PinMy wasn’t born just for installers either — but the way it works fits your job like few tools do: mark elements on a plan, with their photo and their context, and be able to come back to them.

Your job: every element, in its place on the plan

The core of an installation is knowing what goes where. With PinMy, every element is a pin dropped at the exact point on the plan or on a photo of the space:

  • You tap the point where the camera, the reader, the sensor or the rack goes.
  • You leave a photo, a voice note or some text: model, reference, what it covers, how the cabling runs.
  • The pin stays there, with its location, its date and its author.

When you come back — for maintenance, for an extension, or to justify the work — you know exactly what’s at each point and why.

Category icons: read the plan at a glance

Here’s a feature made precisely for this kind of work. Instead of every pin looking the same, you can show each one as a category icon: visually tell a camera apart from a sensor, an access point or a rack, right on the plan.

You can switch the pin view between number, category icon or profile photo, to filter the information visually depending on what you need at any moment. A plan with thirty points stops being a soup of markers and starts reading at a glance: cameras here, access control there.

Outdoor work and multiple locations

Many installations don’t fit on a single plan: a residential complex, several industrial units, a route of points across the whole city. For that, PinMy also lets you work on maps: open a map, zoom in anywhere — urban or out in the field — and drop your pins with voice notes or photos right there, geolocated.

No more taking Google Maps screenshots and marking them up by hand. The location is the canvas, and every point is fixed where it really is.

Coordinate with your team and subcontractors

An installation is rarely a one-person job. With PinMy:

  • You assign each point to whoever it belongs to and follow it from “to do” to “done” on the Kanban board.
  • You use @mentions to alert a colleague inside any comment, with a notification.
  • A subcontractor or a client joins via guest mode — they view and reply without installing anything or creating an account.

All the installation’s communication stays on the plan, not scattered across WhatsApp groups nobody can find two weeks later.

A record that backs you up in disputes

In installation work, arguments about “this wasn’t like that” or “I already finished this” are routine. PinMy gives you a solid record: every pin carries a timestamp and an author, and only the person who created it can move or delete it. Nobody rewrites the history.

“I left the camera installed and working on 12 March” stops being your word against theirs: it’s a dated pin, with photo and voice note, at the exact point. For anyone working with technical responsibility, having that traceability is an enormous reassurance.

What you can do today
